SCRO Committee: UW-Madison hESC Registry
With the exception of the hESC lines on the National Institutes of Health Human Embryonic Stem Cell Registry as of May 9, 2007, hESC lines must have their provenance documented and approved before first being used in research falling within the SCRO Committee's purview. (There is a 2 month grace period for research that was ongoing when the SCRO Committee became operational.) Once the SCRO Committee has reviewed the provenance for an hESC line and found it to be in accordance with UW-Madison policy, that line will be added to the Registry. For hESC lines already on the registry, researchers do not need to provide the SCRO Committee with any further documentation regarding the provenance of those lines (although protocols using those lines still require SCRO Committee approval).
At the present time, the only hESC lines on UW-Madison's hESC Registry are the lines currently listed on the NIH hESC Registry at http://stemcells.nih.gov/research/registry/defaultpage.asp. This page shall be updated as new lines are added.
