Additional Graduate School Fellowships
Knapp Fellowship
The Knapp House Fellowship provides free housing and offers an exceptional opportunity for selected graduate
students to share research, culture and interests with other dissertators from diverse disciplines. The
Graduate School administers this opportunity.
Stipend (2007-08 year): Free housing
Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellowship (WDGF)
The WDGF program was established in 1997 through collaboration between the Graduate School,
UW Foundation, Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), UW schools and colleges and alumni donors.
Candidates are awarded these fellowships by their respective departments. The award package includes
tuition and fees waiver, health insurance eligibility, and a stipend.
Stipend (2007-08 year): Academic Year: $16,605; Annual Year: $20,160; Supplemental Fund: $1,500
Stipend (2008-09 year): Academic Year: $17,100; Annual Year: $20,760; Supplemental Fund: $1,500
Dickie Fellowship
The Dickie Fellowship was created in 1995 from the estate of Ruth Stathearn Dickie. This fellowship
is awarded to graduate students enrolled in sciences, mathematics, or engineering studies whose residence
at the time of matriculation at UW-Madison is in Sauk County, WI. Preference is given to returning adult
students. The application deadline is June 30th.
