From the Graduate Student Collaborative
Welcome to the University of Wisconsin-Madison!
As a new graduate student, we know it can be intimidating to arrive on a new campus. With all of the new experiences awaiting you, it can be difficult to know what to do and where to begin.
The Graduate Student Collaborative (GSC) is a student organization formed to address the common needs of graduate students across campus. We provide opportunities to meet other students, develop personally and professionally, and improve life for students on campus. We are the vital link between graduate students and the Graduate School.
The GSC also publishes The Guide to Graduate Student Life, an essential resource for all graduate students. We created The Guide with the goal of answering many of the questions that new students have about what Madison has to offer, and what you need to do to keep on track! The Guide also includes essential contact info for campus offices and entertainment venues. Think of this book as your all-in-one source for information you need to know as a graduate student at UW-Madison. This is one of the premiere grad student handbooks in the country, so be sure to pick up your own copy from your department. You can also access it online here.
You can contact GSC at (608) 262-0201 or stop by our office at 408 Bascom Hall. Be sure to join the GSC email listserv to find out about opportunities for UW graduate students and receive GSC's weekly newsletter, GradConnections.
