Wisconsin Program for Scientific Teaching's goal is to enhance undergraduate biology education by training a new generation of "scientific teachers" to become outstanding mentors and classroom teachers.
CIC (Committee on Institutional Cooperation) Traveling Scholars Program - The Program enables doctoral-level students at any CIC university (the consortium of the Big Ten universities, the University of Chicago, and Pennsylvania State) to take advantage of educational opportunities, specialized courses, unique library collections, unusual laboratories at any other CIC university without change in registration or increase in tuition. Humanities Exposed (HEX) Programs encourage community-based research for graduate students in the humanities. They foster collaborative projects that connect graduate students with teachers, schools, after- school programs, museums and neighborhood centers.
Humans and the Global Environment (CHANGE) interweaves natural and social sciences and the humanities to explore the vulnerabilities and resilience of human communities facing complex environmental hazards. This graduate certificate program is open to any graduate student, regardless of major.
Strategic Management in the Life and Engineering Sciences is an MBA program targeted at people with advanced life science and technical degrees (mainly PhDs).

Wisconsin Entrepreneurial Bootcamp (WEB) provides physical/life science or engineering graduate students with an introduction to entrepreneurship and the tools, skills, and issues faced in technology entrepreneurship.
Life Sciences Career Day, offered bi-annually, is designed to help doctoral and postdoctoral students in the life sciences learn about career choices ranging from teaching to law to industry positions.
Professional Development Symposium (Fall, usually in October) This day-long symposium for graduate students is composed of workshops, discussions, and networking activities. Topics covered may include developing your C.V., strategies on public speaking, working with people effectively, how to get funding, and achieving balance between graduate school and other important aspects of your life. Professional Development Week (Spring) is a special week of professional, personal, and social development events is tailored specifically for graduate students and the unique challenges they face.
Teaching and Learning Symposium, offered annually, provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, post- docs, and teaching assistants to explore themes of mutual interest, share best practices and design solutions.
Awards
Campus-wide Teaching Assistant Awards - Departments nominate graduate students in fall.
Graduate Student Peer Mentor Awards - Any individual can nominate (between March 1st and March 30 th) a graduate student who has made a difference through mentoring other graduate students.
The Judson Student Creative Arts Award and a grant of $1,500 is awarded to a graduate student in the creative arts "who has made the greatest contribution to the field(s) of study covered”. Nominations are invited from the following units: Art, English (Creative Writing), Dance, ETD, Music, Communication Arts, and Theatre & Drama. The recipient is notified of the award in December and honored at the Arts Institute's annual awards ceremony.
Vilas Travel Grant may be awarded to UW-Madison dissertators and final year MFA students for domestic or international travel to conferences or for research purposes.
Knapp House/ Marie Christine Kohler Fellows form a unique community of scholars sharing varied research and recreational interests and diverse cultures. The fellowship offers an exceptional opportunity for advanced graduate and professional students from diverse disciplines to reside, rent-free, in the former Governor's Mansion now known as the Knapp House. Departments can nominate students each spring.
Excellence in Civic Engagement Awards presented by the Morgridge Center for Public Service honors strong reciprocal partnerships with community agencies that make a significant impact.
The Elizabeth Hirschfelder Award for up to three graduate women in Physics, Math, and Chemistry. The purpose of the fund is to provide funding for research related activities and to encourage graduate women in science.
