William
S. Mellon, Ph.D. has been designated as the Institutional Official for
the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the protection of human subjects.
In this federally-mandated role, Dr. Mellon assumes operational authority
for the Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) at
UW-Madison.
In addition, Dr. Mellon is responsible for ensuring that institutional officers and federal regulatory agencies are aware of the activities of the IRBs.
