The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) has announced the Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) [PAR-07-432] that provides support for research training and education of recent baccalaureate graduates from groups underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research areas, who plan to pursue Ph.D. degrees. The purpose of this program is to establish a steady supply of Ph.D. candidates from underrepresented groups. Awards are up to $350,000 annually, and the project period may not exceed four years.
An eligible institution may hold only one PREP award; thus, an ad hoc committee will select the proposal to be forwarded to NIH.
Inform the Graduate School of your intent to submit a proposal by Wednesday, October 24, 2007. Include the following information in your notice of intent: name and full contact information of the PI, names and departments of Co-PIs, and a brief (2-3 sentences) description of your proposal. Email this information to gsgrants@bascom.wisc.edu with "NIGMS PREP " in the subject line of your email message.
Applications for internal review: Submit your application for the internal competition, including the following information in your application:
-- Cover page with proposal title, full contact information (building address, phone, email) for the PI, and names and departmental affiliations for the Co-PIs
--
A 2- to 4-page project description that addresses the PREP program's research objectives (found in Section 1 of the solicitation).
Deliver five (5) the copies to The Graduate School, Room 333 Bascom Hall, by 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 31, 2007.
