The NSF Partnerships for Innovation (NSF-PFI) program aims to increase innovation and collaborations among scientists, engineers, educators, industry, and governments to speed the transformation of new knowledge into new products, processes, and services, thereby creating new jobs and wealth and improved standard of living and quality of life worldwide.
The number of applications UW–Madison may submit is limited to one as the lead institution; two proposals may be submitted if at least one of the two is as a partnering, non-lead institution. For this reason we will convene an ad hoc committee to conduct an internal review of the applications and to select the projects to be forwarded to NSF.
Please send an email message to gsgrants@bascom.wisc.edu by Wednesday, May 3, 2006 to inform us of your intention to submit a proposal. In your email message, include the complete contact information for the PI, the names and departments of the Co-PIs, and a brief description of the project you will propose.
Send five copies of a 2-3 page description of the proposed project to the Graduate School Dean's Office, 333 Bascom Hall by 12:00, Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Your project description should address the review criteria in section VI of the NSF Partnerships for Innovation solicitation (NSF 06-550).
For those projects selected, an optional letter of intent is due at NSF by June 28. Complete proposals must be submitted by August 30 using FastLane. Information about campus procedures for FastLane is posted on the RSP Web site. If you have questions about this competition, please contact me at 263-7274, gsgrants@bascom.wisc.edu (or Petra Schroeder at 265-4868).
