The NSF Partnerships for International Research and Education program aims to establish innovative models for international collaborative research and education, establish collaborative relationships with international groups or institutions, promote the development of a globally engaged, U.S. scientific workforce, and facilitate greater student participation in international research collaboration. Awards will be up to $500,000 per year for five years.
Full proposals may be submitted only by invitation from NSF, and UW–Madison may submit only three preliminary proposals. For this reason we will convene an ad hoc committee to review the pre-proposals internally and to select the projects to be forwarded to NSF.
Send an email message to gsgrants@bascom.wisc.edu by Wednesday, August 30 to inform us of your intention to submit a pre-proposal. Include the name and full contact information for the PI, the names and departments of the Co-PIs, and a brief paragraph description of your proposed project.
By 12:00 p.m. , Wednesday, September 6, send five copies of a 2-4 page description of the proposed project to the Graduate School Dean's Office, 333 Bascom Hall. Include in your project description the research focus, key research and education features with innovative model of international collaboration, and a list of participants. References cited, biographical sketches, current and pending support, and a budget are not required for the internal competition.
The NSF-Partnerships for International Research and Education solicitation (NSF 06-589; replaces 05-533) provides a detailed program description and instructions for submitting the preliminary proposal.
The NSF deadline is Monday, October 30, 2006. Pre-proposals may be submitted through Grants.gov or FastLane, and information about campus procedures is posted on the RSP Web site (Grants.gov, FastLane).
