The University of Wisconsin has been invited to submit two applications for the 2008 Searle Scholars Program. The Searle Scholar Awards are normally $240,000 ($80,000 per year for three years).
Awards are intended to support the independent research of exceptional young faculty who are expected to make innovative and high-impact contributions in the areas of biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, or related areas in chemistry, medicine, or the biological sciences.
Candidates should have begun their first tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level on or after July 1, 2006 and therefore be in their first or second year.
Departments considering nominating candidates should refer to information available on the Searle Scholars Program web site (http://www.searlescholars.net).
